METCALFE CURLING CLUB

Hello fellow curlers,
It's amazing to be thinking about curling after such a gloriously hot
day. I was out on a golf course today and the only curling that
came to mind involved a nice shady tree and a nap. When I thought
about ice there was a glass involved not granite.
All that to say, despite the weather, preparations for the upcoming
curling season have begun. We'll be holding registration on
September 5 (7:00 - 10:00 p.m.) and September 6 (10:00 - noon).
We hope you can make it out to sign up for another fun year at the
Metcalfe Curling Club. New curlers are also welcome so bring some
friends. If you can't make it out then check out our website (www.metcalfe.ovca.com)
under Registration.
For those needing a refresher there will be a curling clinic on
November 1. This will run from 8:30 until 3:00 and will include
lunch. All at no cost for members of the club. Thanks to
Bill and Martha Robertson for organizing the clinic.
The first spiel of the year will be the President's Spiel on November
8. The sign-up sheet will be available starting at the General
Meeting of October 9. Hope you can make it out for both the
meeting and the spiel.
Work is underway on the installation of our Reverse Osmosis water
system. This new water system along with a dehumidifier and
improved lighting of the ice surface bodes well for the start of the
season on October 27.
That's all for now but I'll try to keep the newsletters coming on a
regular basis just as Sue did last year.
